Louisiana does not charge a real estate transfer tax.

Louisiana banned transfer taxes in 2011. No state or local government may create a new one. New Orleans keeps a flat documentary fee that existed before the ban.

In New Orleans a flat $325 documentary tax applies to each recorded transfer, regardless of price. Everywhere else in Louisiana there is no transfer tax at all.
